Which spreadsheet do you need?
- Not open yet: the ecommerce startup budget template adds up what it costs to open and to stay open, and works out how many orders a month it takes to break even.
- Choosing what to sell and at what price: the product profit margin spreadsheet gives the profit, margin, markup and break-even ROAS of every product, and the price you need for the margin you want.

How the templates work
Each workbook opens on a "Start here" sheet that says what to fill in and where to find it. Sand-coloured cells are inputs, everything else is a formula. Rates such as your card processing fee go in once, on a Settings sheet, because they come from your own account: Shopify does not publish its card rates, so no template can know yours. None of the files contain macros, so they open without security warnings.
Questions
Are the spreadsheet templates really free?
Yes. You give us an email address, the file downloads straight away and the link arrives in your inbox too. The address also joins our weekly email, and if you unsubscribe the file is still yours.
Do they work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets: formulas, dropdowns and number formats carry over. They also open in Excel, Numbers and LibreOffice.
Can I change the templates?
Of course. Add rows, rename categories, delete sheets you do not need. The sand-coloured cells are the inputs; if you copy a row down, its formulas come with it.
